2ND Westmount / St Andrew's Winter Camp Feb 24-26 2017

Registration is open for 2ND Westmount & St Andrew's winter camp which will be held at Tamaracouta Scout Reserve the weekend of Feb 24-26. Members will be sleeping in heated cabins but winter gear is essential for all outdoor activities.
A $20 deposit is necessary to secure your spot as space is limited. See your leader for more information

The 2017 Vimy Pilgrimage Award
High school students aged 14-17 can win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France. Scheduled for April 7-16, 2017, the Vimy Pilgrimage Award is a fully-funded immersive educational program in France and Belgium to study Canada’s tremendous First World War effort.

In 2017, 17 Canadian students who showcase community service, teamwork, and leadership will be chosen to participate alongside students from Belgium, Great Britain, France, and Germany, for a truly international educational experience.

Douglas Leahey, Scout leader with Westmount Park awarded the Medal of Merit

Quebec Council Commissioner, Russ Looker, presented Douglas Leahey, Scout leader with Westmount Park, the Medal of Merit in recognition of his continued commitment to Scouting. Doug has led the Westmount Park Scout troop for many years and was a driving force with Montreal area Rovers leading Project Yeti Nepal 2016. Douglas mobilized the crew of 8 Rovers and put together the necessary elements to make this humanitarian trip happen. Under Dog's guidance the Rovers spent a month volunteering in Nepal, planting trees, painting a clinic, community ce tre and a monestary as well as setting up a computer centre at a school in the Solu Khumbu, the mountainous region near Everest in the Himalayas. Maggie Shaddick, who initiated the Nepal expedition, was present, along with three of the Rovers who participated in the trip. Doug truly deserves the recognition for the contribution he makes in scouting. Well done Doug!

Tous les membres de scouts de Westmount ainsi que leurs amis et familles sont invités à l'illumination du sapin de Noël le jeudi 1 décembre de 18h30 à 20 h à L'Hôtel de ville de Westmount, 4333, Sherbrooke O. Il y aura des activités, des cantiques de Noėl, du chocolat chaud et des biscuits pour tous. Notez que les jeunes doivent être accompagnés car l'activité n'est pas organiser par les scouts.
All Westmount scouting members, friends & families are invited to the Christmas Tree Lighting at Westmount City Hall, 4333 Sherbrooke W from 6:30 pm to 8 pm on Thursday Dec 1. There will be activities, carolling, hot chocolate & cookies for all. Note that youth must be accompanied since this is not a scout organized event.
