Project Yeti is a group of 10 rovers, from Westmount and nearby, in Nepal for a humanitarian trip.
Hello from the Himalayas. We are in the sacred Thame valley which is the traditional trade route with Tibet (closed recently by China). We are staying in a tea house (en suite rooms but no heat - hot shower is extra!) We have our own crew feeding us and are so spoiled) in the village of Thame which was heavily damaged in the earthquake but a lot of rebuilding has restored most homes. We have been planting seedlings (over 2,000 so far) with local staff and our guides. We will be painting in the newly rebuilt clinic and the local monastery (there seems to be one perched above every town). The weather has been magnificent the last few days with glorious views of several snow covered peaks. There were avalanches earlier in the week as snow melts at the lower levels. We are at 3840 m and have adapted pretty well to the altitude.
Westmount scouting groups will be going to TSR this summer for the week of July 17 to July 23. Youth members can also go for additional weeks throughout the summer. Cheques should be made out to your group if attending the week with leaders. Otherwise contact Tamaracouta directly. www.tamaracout.com
Please note Cubs are welcome to attend any week but no Westmount leaders will be going.
Note: non-members can also attend camp.
